Dogs and Cats Must be Licensed
Per WI State §174.054 the owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1 of any year, or 5 months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age, pay the dog license tax and obtain a license.
The Village is also requiring licensing for cats within Village limits.
To obtain a license for your dog or cat:
Please fill out the form below with the following and return to the Village office via drop box, in person or mail.
- Provide proof or rabies vaccination. This must be provided each year regardless of whether it was previously provided. This can be emailed to [email protected].
- Provide proof of spaying/neutering. If applicable. This can be emailed to [email protected].
- Enclose a check (made payable to Village of Barneveld) or cash. Check payments must be separate from all other payments.
- Enclose a self-addressed, stamped business-size (#9 or #10) envelope for the return of your documents and your new license.
Fees:
Neutered male/Spayed female | $10.00 |

Late Fees:

Dog and Cat licenses are subject to a late fee if purchased on or after April 1st of the current license year, or after the date the dog/cat becomes 5 months of age.
Do you have to pay a late fee? If you answer yes to all these questions, you must pay the $10.00 late fee in addition to the pet license tax fee:
- Is today on or after April 1?
- Is your pet over 5 months of age as of today?
- Have you had your pet for more than 30 days?
- Have you been a Village of Barneveld resident for more than 30 days
